“How much CBD should I take?” is one of the questions we get asked most frequently here at Hempura, but CBD oil dosage isn’t a one-size-fits-all standard – it’s important to find the appropriate CBD dosage for you. Consuming the right amount comes down to establishing what works best for your body’s unique endocannabinoid system, a system that is involved in a wide variety of physiological processes.
In terms of optimal dose, only you can say for certain what level is most suited to you, based on a careful evaluation of how you feel and your thought processes over time, as you gradually increase the amount of CBD you are taking. Our recommendation is to start with a low dose, i.e. a single drop under the tongue as an oil dosage, and work your way up slowly. It’s important not to rush the process and allow time for the body to absorb and distribute the cannabinoids before taking more of a CBD product.
There are a number of hemp CBD products available on the market, and each should have the recommended dosage clearly labelled. Generally, the recommended dosage will be in milligrams (mg).
If you are starting treatment with Hempura CBD oil or CBD products, we recommended that you start with a low dose of CBD around 10-15mg, taken in two doses, evenly spaced throughout the day. Once you get more familiar with CBD (and the effect that it has on your wellbeing) you can increase the dose slowly, perhaps every 5-7 days, until you reach a point where you feel that you are getting the full benefit of the product.
Gradually increasing dosage in this way is called the uptitration method (pronounced up-tie-tray-shen). The body only needs small doses of CBD to respond positively and help improve overall balance and wellbeing in most cases, so this method helps to ensure that you aren’t giving yourself a higher dosage than you actually need.
To highlight why it’s so important to increase your dosage slowly and carefully, the bell chart below is designed to demonstrate how, at a certain point (that is unique to you and your own endocannabinoid system), the benefits of CBD products can start to reduce as the dosage continues to increase.
Over time, too high of a dose of a CBD product could begin to wear out your receptors and mean that you’ll experience fewer benefits from the CBD hemp products. This makes it incredibly important to start with a low dose and work your way up slowly and methodically to find the right dose for your body – hitting the sweet spot on your body’s metaphorical ‘curve’.
As we mentioned earlier, most CBD products have their recommended dosage clearly labelled, and Hempura products are no different – the chart below highlights the approximate CBD dosage for some of our products and the method of administration for each product. While Hempura products can offer a wealth of benefits, getting the right dose is essential, so make sure that you take the time to find the perfect dosage for you.
